I got that AstroGlideZeneca shit squirted into me and now I feel like a bag of smashed badger asses. And I couldn’t be happier. Disclaimer: I’m not a doctor this is not medical advice follow the advice of your physician don’t fucking sue me. You want to talk blood clot risk? Fuck that. Fuck that for the same reason I’m not going to have a discussion about the insignificant risk of being trapped in a burning vehicle by my seatbelt. Do the math on comparative risk. It’s no contest.
Thank you for spreading the message that shots in arms is the most important thing right now!
Also, I’m in awe of your wife. I will be 31 when I finish my genetics PhD next year...and it will be on-par with the normal length of the program! Please tell her she’s a goddamn force of nature and she should be the most famous “doctor-wife,” not Ben Shapiro’s poor wife.
I got Moderna, because that’s what Walgreens had. 1st dose, my arm hurt. 2nd dose, I slept 24 hours of the next 36 hours, which is good as I now know what a bag of smashes badger asses feels like.
Thank you for this message, James! I had already put my fiancée, her sister, and myself on an appointment waitlist for the “AGZ” (lol) vaccine, though I was a tad hesitant due to the blood clot risk and the lower effectiveness vs. the Pfizer and moderna options. Your article put my mind at ease when we were suddenly able to get vaccinated on Tuesday thanks to some calling around by my future MIL.
Yesterday was heightened fatigue and a near-migraine level headache, but feeling much better today. Keep up the great work, and thank the good doctor for her efforts!
Literally the day I qualified, I made the appointment. I got the Pfizer (both shots). Mom got the Pfizer (both) Sister got Pfizer (one shot). Niece and nephew still waiting.
I was never so excited to get a needle. Because of I caught COVID, I'd be dead. I drew a genetic short straw.
Lost count of the Covidiots who said my death would be a good thing, cause Darwin. 🙄
I got the Pfizer, but only because it was the first one I could get an appt for. My dad, who I had to help get an appt, got Moderna, and my husband and brother-in-law are getting their first Pfizer today. As a microbiologist with a background in virology and vaccine development, I heartily approve of your wife's take on all this. Get vaccinated as soon as you can with whichever vaccine is easiest to get.
I had both Pfizer (all they were offering closest to home here in San Francisco) shots. No side effects at all. Whew! I've heard it said that people have an asymmetric perception of risk. I think it's because if they take no action, it is in the hands of "someone else" and not because of something "they did." But Rush rightly said, "If you choose not to reply you still have made a choice." (Or something close. College was long ago). So it's always in their hands.
Received the Pfizer first shot almost three weeks ago and everything went well except my shoulder still hurts. I honestly didn't care which one I was going to get. I'm ready to get my next one over and done so hopefully we get some herd immunity going on where I don't have to worry about my loved ones
“AstroGlideZeneca” is HIGHLY AMUSING. Makes it sound wayyyy more fun!
I try my best to both educate and entertain. I am pleased it is appreciated.

So is that worse than a bag of unsmashed badger asses? Asking for a friend.
Hell yeah. I'm glad you are vaccinated, and it's true, the best vaccine to get is the one you can get.
If it helps, both Pfizer shots totally fucked me up for a bit more than a day and a half. Worth it.
My other half had her 2nd Pfizer 48 hours ago and weirdly never really bad. So that’s a win. It has a pretty scary reputation.

Spooky, my dr wife also did biochem before medicine. And pharmacology. She holds a very similar position.
I got the moderna jabs.
Fuck yeah, if the AstroglideZeneca was what they were gonna stick me with I'd have got them.
I ALWAYS look at the comparative risks, and the disease is a bigger risk than I wanna take.
