It's very interesting over what we feel guilt; yet, in your case, unfortunate that a physician didn't tell you right away (granted, however, that they may not have known what you did). I've had many patients (as a psychotherapist in a mental institution) who were plagued by guilt. Often, it had nothing to do with what they did. Yet they, especially as children, put on that mantel and carried it their entire lives. Fascinating. I'm glad for some resolution in your case.

fuck! I’m so glad I read this and you fucking wrote it. I have a guilt story (not as traumatic as that) but non the less I feel so much fucking better, and I too “confessed” to my perfect wonderful mummy my big lie, many many years later, that I made her carry me home from school (I was 12) cus I lied to get out of PE. I then lied to the doctor who made a house call as well! Kids, ya can’t kill em but ya sure can feel like it sometimes. 🤣

I bet there are plenty of us who have experienced some trauma from past events. Thanks for sharing. Glad you are almost whole now ;)

It’s really weird the things that stick in our psyche. I still rethink conversations I had years ago, and think of what I “should” have said. Glad you got the chance to get this event off your chest.

It's weird and funny how some things stay with us from our childhood with a particular perspective that is mostly because we were children at the time of the incident. Even looking back and thinking on it, we are still stuck in that moment in that mindset and can't get past it until we talk about it to someone who can see it with an adult's perspective and experience. I'm sorry you carried that for so long, but I'm glad you finally got it off your chest.
