Now it makes sense. THIS is what MAGA Republicans remember as the time America was - in their worldview - “great.”

I've never understood why white people are like that. They put the onus on black people to "be forgiving" instead of realizing it is their (white people) responsibility to change their own hearts.

Hazel reminds me of abusive narcissists I've known, you know the type, "I'm sorry I did that to you, but you made me do it".

It's disgusting and I, for one, do not forgive them for their behavior towards BIPOC folks. Fuck those pieces of shit!

I remember when we moved back to the mainland in my early teens. My parents were somewhat conservative, but open to new things. I was raised in Puerto Rico and being a kid, didn't read or hear about the Civil Rights struggle. That area was such a crossroads that everyone mixed and enjoyed each other. I learned to speak fluent Spanish and greatly enjoyed their culture. I learned about Caribbean history and was unhappy and ashamed about the way the Europeans took over and destroyed everything they touched.

When we got back, I made friends as I usually did. Puerto Rican, Latin American, Black, White, who cared? I was ostracized by most of the White kids for that. I didn't understand and to be I honest, I still don't. People are people. We all bleed red and we all go through the same struggles in life, plus added racism for the non-Whites. As if life isn't hard enough already? SMDH.
