And the event was blocked from U.S. history books as if it never happened. Greenwood, the Black Wall Street, never came back.

So typical of our 'Murican proclivity for investing wholeheartedly in that "land of the free" bullshit and denying we've ever done anything heinous. Unfortunately, it doesn't surprise me at all that, as good of a student of history I was all the way through school, I was in my '50's before I'd ever heard of this massacre. We've got to own this shit and hold ourselves accountable, but instead we wipe it from the history books and pretend only other countries do this shit.

As a child of the 70s, having grown up in Tulsa, I knew about the massacre, but sure as fuck not from school books. My mom and grampa taught me about it. It's a goddamn tragedy that our true and complete history isn't taught in school. Hell, I was even taught about my own dual heritage of Jewish and Native American in the past tense. I distinctly remember my teachers speaking of Native Americans as if we were an extinct species and me wondering why they didn't actually acknowledge all of us little Indian kids sitting right in front of them. The pure, unadulterated truth has been whitewashed long enough. It's time for everyone to learn!

That's why I'm so fucking grateful for you, James, and your sweary fucking history lessons! 🥰💯❣️

I love your short takes on historical events. Just wondering if you will ever write a book on some of your favorite episodes. It would be nice to read longer versions of some of these events. You give us a taste and leave us wanting more.
