I have always wondered why May 12 was picked and now I know and as a retired nurse who was trained by another amazing woman Vivian Bullwinkle who was a survivor of the sinking of the hospital ship Centur.
I’ve collected FN memorabilia for years. Have visited the Florence Nightingale Museum housed in the lower level of the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing in London. It’s across the Thames from Parliament and Big Ben. Worth a visit if you are ever in London. And her gravesite in East Willow. (Not far from Stonehenge.) She was a complicated woman, but left an indelible legacy on healthcare. She was also an early statistician.
