I gotta say, the more I read about American history and how we've acquired pretty much ALL of the land, the more I believe we owe some MAJOR apologies for being such fucked up, assholian BULLIES.

That's all for now, I'm trying to keep my blood pressure down.

Read up on the history of the fruit companies in the 1800s and 1900s. We used the Marines as enforcers to intimidate or take over countries in Latin America.

Having grown up in Hawai'i, this was something we learned early on. Hawaiian history and culture is social studies curriculum in 4th, 7th, and 11th grades. She was imprisoned in 'Iolani Palace, the only royal residence on US soil, which you might recognize as the Hawai'i 5-O headquarters in the original show. She was also a talented musician and composer.

One of the reasons that the Union Jack is part of the Hawai'i state flag is that the British had also overthrown the Hawaiian monarchy in the past. But an appeal to Queen Victoria and other political shenanigans resulted in the British returning control of the Islands to it's own monarchy. The flag was kept and incorporated as a thank you. This history lead the queen to believe that the US gov't would do the same thing. But the US gov't was all fuck off royalty, the islands are a great resource both militarily and economically and we're keeping it.

There is now a large and fractured Hawaiian sovereignty movement. And Hawaiians are not recognized as Indigenous Americans in the US census and do not receive the benefits of that status, including self governance.
