We visited Vimy Ridge on the 100year anniversary in 2017. It is indeed a beautiful and haunting place, worthy of the memorial that sits atop it. My wife's grandfather and great uncle were there in 1917 and fortunately survived.
Every Canadian needs to go to Vimy. It is less than an hour by train from Paris and then a taxi ride through the French countryside from the Arras station. We were met at the entrance by Brianna from Niagara Falls who said to us: "Welcome to Canada." It was a bucket list moment for me.
