I’ve read the work of plenty of authors still using the same author photo from 20 years ago. I prefer to keep changing it up. As my fourth book is about to be published, I’ve written a new bio and taken a new author photo, based on where I currently am in life.
Last year I was … not so good. And the photo for Volume I of On this day in History Sh!t Went Down reflected that. This year I am much better, and I think the new photo reflects that as well.
Last June I published for subscribers the bio I’m using for V2. If you missed it, here it is:
James Fell doesn’t like talking about himself in the third person but it’s standard practice to Bob Dole this bio shit so here we go.
James wanted to be a history professor, but he chose love instead. He didn’t want to make his physician wife uproot a practice time and again while he did a PhD then searched for a tenure-track position fuck knows where. So after the master’s degree in history, he got an MBA and worked as a marketroid, but he hated that so he became a fitness columnist for the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune, and he was pretty good at it.
