Testing. Testing. This thing on?
This is my first “send those people an email to let them know about it” post for Substack. It is possible you don’t know about this move and I’m upset about that and it requires some explanation.
I am closing down my Patreon and have moved everything to Substack. If you were a subscriber on Patreon you should have received an email about that before any other announcement was made. But some subscribers are saying they didn’t get that email and if you were one of them, I’m really sorry because that must have been confusing and potentially upsetting because you’re wondering what this means for you because you already paid and what’s going on James now you’re shutting it down explain yourself.
This is the post on Patreon from this morning, but the gist is that if you were a subscriber there, I got you and you don’t have to do anything. If you were a free subscriber at Patreon to the public posts, you’re now a free subscriber to the public posts here. If you were a paid subscriber at Patreon, then you’re all paid up here for the same duration. If you were monthly there, we have you covered for the next full month here. If you were annual and had ten months left there, you’re all covered here for the next ten months. However, we did NOT import any financial information, so once your term is up, you’ll need to input that if you want to continue being a paid subscriber. You’ll get a reminder about that before the time is up.
I’ll note that Substack doesn’t do tiers, so everyone is on an even playing field now. If you had limited access before, congratulations, you now have access to everything.
Also, you don’t need to cancel payments on Patreon. I’m leaving it up for a week, just in case, but it will be all shut down before the next billing period, so you won’t be charged there again.
Starting tomorrow you’ll receive the daily emails for the “On This Day in History” posts, plus emails for any additional posts. Thank you for all your past support, and also welcome to all you new subscribers. I apologize again for any confusion for the people who didn’t get that email this morning. Hopefully this clears everything up.
James
