I knew many people in the US were bigoted against the disabled because of treatment I've seen of many people, once it became obvious they had a disability. A late friend who was an INJURED VETERAN who worked but happened to need a wheelchair was abused in a coffee shop as a waste of tax payer dollars. A not inconsiderable number of Americans want the disabled either institutionalized or unalived (as the kids call it).
