Trump 2024 isn't gonna fucking happen
Melania Trump hates being First Lady as much as she hates Christmas, which is a whole lot. I expect she also hates her husband, so, welcome to the fucking club. Except no. Not her. She’s a birther who supported that asswipe all these years. She’s not allowed in our Trump-hating club.
Anyway, since Donnie probably hates her right back, he used a Covid-spreading Christmas party at the White House last night to express his intention to run again in 2024, saying, “It’s been an amazing four years. We are trying to do another four years. Otherwise, I’ll see you in four years.”
First off, this is showing he’s finally getting ready to admit defeat on 2020. He’s given additional diaper-filled confirmation on this by saying he’s not going to meet with President-elect Biden or attend his inauguration, because he’s a whiney fucking baby.
Secondly, there is a negligible likelihood that Trump will lead the GOP in 2024. There are several explanations as to why:
Health
Trump is an unhealthy 74 and in four years will be an even more unhealthy 78. He got Covid and, despite Herculean efforts of everything medical science had to offer, could possibly suffer long-term effects from it. Or it might just be his shitty diet and him abhorring exercise. He is not a well man now and might not even be around in four years.
Prison
It could happen. Presidential pardons are only for federal crimes and won’t affect him being prosecuted in New York for state crimes regarding his personal and business finances. Surprisingly, a felon can run for president, but not if they’re currently in prison. What’s more likely is that, if he is charged, the appeals will drag on for years and he’ll still be on trial during the 2024 election, and the Republican party isn’t going to want to run a candidate undergoing criminal prosecution. And that’s the next major point:
The GOP is done with him
Despite supporting him like a bunch of sycophantic fucking cowards, they got what they wanted out him: lots of conservative judges and a tax cut for rich people. But he lost in 2020 and they probably won’t want to run a loser a second time. Not to mention that most in the Republican party just don’t fucking like him. They pretended to like him because alienating his powerful base would have been career suicide, but now that he’s out they don’t have to worry about kissing his ass near so much any longer.
Trump may try to hang on to the spotlight and seize the GOP leadership a second time, but his star is already fading. His desperate and increasingly pathetic attempts to overturn the election during the past few weeks are prying away supporters and news coverage alike. He’s gone from being a fearful beast to a joke. Very soon, he will be removed from power, potentially prosecuted, and loved only by the most far right media. Even Fox doesn’t like the guy any longer, and social media support for Trump is quieting down. People are ready to live in a post-Trump world.
The Republicans want to win in 2024, so they’ll likely get their shit together and try to have a better candidate for 2024 that can rival Trump. What that candidate will look like is difficult to say, but the type of cult-leader / demagogue that Trump was doesn’t come along that often, so perhaps they’ll choose someone not totally bugshit. We can hope.
Even if he got the leadership, victory would be a longshot
He got his ass kicked in 2020, and in this instance, I think people are going to have LONG memories of just how fucking awful he was. People got out and voted in droves for Biden / Harris because they were fucking done with this piece of shit. And if faced with another four years of him, you can bet your ass they’ll do it again.
History is not on his side
A number of presidents have tried and failed to return to win a second term after losing re-election. Only one, Grover Cleveland in 1892, accomplished such a feat. Even Teddy Roosevelt couldn’t do it.
And finally . . .
He may not want to
This may all be present-day ego-saving bluster on his part. This is a man who LIES CONSTANTLY. Just because he said he plans to run in 2024 doesn’t mean he will. Lots of things could happen in the next few years that convince him it’s not worth it.
F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote, “There are no second acts in American lives.” Let’s hope Trump’s first act in politics has a final curtain on January 20th, 2021.
