Y'all might be interested to know that the actual door that was taped open is still in storage at the Watergate and will be part of a Watergate Museum that the complex as a whole is working to start. (Source: I live in Watergate South.)
Yeah the current administration makes the whole Watergate thing look like amateur hour. Here's an idea for a future post--the strange history of the DC city canals, and where the Watergare complex got its name.
Nixon was a peach compared to what we have now. My parents taught me to hate him. I don't. Hate doesn't look good on me. Not that I loved Nixon. But Trump? Not sure how to describe my disappointment.
Bob Spitz’s biography of Reagan pointed out a detail that I had previously not considered about Nixon. Because Ford pardoned him (which is whole other subject!), Nixon was free to spend the rest of his days rebranding himself as an elder statesman. So by the time Reagan came along with his whack ideas about communists, Nixon had enough clout to influence Reagan’s decisions. Which is interesting because they ran in the same circles in California years before Reagan entered national politics. Reagan initially couldn’t stand him, but there he was letting Nixon call the shots. Reagan planted the seeds of the Republican Party as we know it. So while Nixon’s shenanigans were child’s play compared to He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, his ghost continues to haunt us.
Like every other major story, the whole thing was a set up to to remove Nixon from office. Just like the charges against Agnew to force him to resign so that they could anoint the country’s first and only unelected president, Gerald Ford. Who also played an important role in the fake Warren Commission supposedly investigating the JFK assassination. The Presidency was his reward for his part in the coverup.
It’s all theater folks. Just like the Trump Impeachment nonsense and assassination attempts.

Republicans ruin everything.

The Committee for the Re-Election of the President was commonly referred to as CREEP. So appropriate
That crime is quaint compared to the raping and pillaging going on now. Being American is a fucking exhausting experience these days.
Fittingly, the committee to re-elect the president acronym was CREEP.

What was more shocking was when the White House tapes were recorded - I imagine we will never get to hear Trumps………….
