I’m pretty sure I was appointed by someone to tell people what their problems are and how to fix them. Your problem, James, is that you’re a people-pleaser. You hold back and don’t tell people how you really feel. It’s unhealthy to bottle up these emotions. You need to let loose and express your true feelings. You’re welcome.

Hated this for the reasons you outlined, as well as the song being cobbled together crap.

Yes, totally agree, especially with your second point!

This song makes me cringe so much. I heard it on the radio the other day - why are they still playing this racist, colonialist crap??

I was like 12 when this dumb song came out and even I was thinking "well if they're Christians they know, and if they're not they don't care, and I think this line about thanking God it's them and not me is pretty terrible?"

Had no idea the issues with it were so myriad. Bit of a shame Bananarama was involved, I like them a lot even among the other stars in that lineup.

Jeezusss! Never realized hoe shit this ahow of “compassion”

I could never stomach that song, and I hated the stupid video with clean and well fed people singing vapid words about a country that was fighting for its life. Geldof tried to canonize himself many times. This was the first, and the worst.

Unfortunately, the dazzling array of rock idols (were they paid?) and the catchy 90s era rock song and lyrics satiated the clueless Western palate for a singable POS rock-style song. On other hand, We are the World was an honest and compassionate plea for humanity’s need to grow together to help out a suffering world !!

I agree about We Are The World.

I thought the same. Loathed that song.

Don't mince words, here, James. Tell us how you really feel about centuries of European colonialism. 🤯

I remember when this song came out and I didn’t think much about it (beyond thinking it was awful) until someone mentioned the actual lyrics— then I was appalled.
