Before I left on this trip, I’d decided that I needed to look into therapy to help manage my anxiety. Now I believe that’s the right decision more than ever, because holy shit.
Okay so it wasn’t the most exciting trip, and I wasn’t able to see much. This ain’t travel writing.
But anyway here’s a recap. I left on Tuesday from Calgary, connecting through Montreal and Munich. I can’t sleep on planes, so I watched a bunch of movies. Bullet Train was pretty good. All my flights were on time, no panics with the connections.
Peter, one of the organizers of the TEDx in Tirgu Mures, who is also a city councillor and a successful entrepreneur, drove for 90 minutes to pick me up at the airport because he wanted to chat. We had a great conversation. He loves a lot of the same science fiction authors I do.
I stayed up until 10pm local time, having been awake for 31 hours, downed a prescription sleeping pill, and went into an eight-hour coma. But after that my sleep was garbage for the rest of the trip.
