Never read the reviews

Except for always. Always read them.

Long ago, before I published my first book, I was warned not to read the reviews.

Fuck that. I need to know what people think of me and my work so I can obsess over it. Yeah I’ll see those nine 5-star reviews about how much they loved the book and zero in on that fucking 1-star like dog heading for a piece of cheese you dropped on the floor.

I jest. Negative reviews don’t bother me unless some kind of campaign is launched by far-right fuckwipes to review bomb the shit out of my book and drive the rating down. Thus far, that hasn’t happened, and Volume I sits at a comfortable 4.8 stars with 1,410 ratings. The one stars are few and far between and I adore them because they make great fodder for selling more books, especially if they’re of the variety where they give me shit for disrespecting the Danger Yam.

I’ve been hardened in the fiery crucible of running a Facebook page. There are damn few comments that could faze me. Although I did write about that one type that drives me bugshit. Seeing some Trumper or Jeebus freak misplace their excrement over my book in an Amazon review is the opposite of upsetting. It’s an opportunity to screenshot it and use it to sell more.

Anyfuckingway, Volume II was published yesterday and that means the fucker is open for being reviewed. You haven’t got your copy yet? Doesn’t matter as far as I’m concerned. Chances are you read a good chunk of them already for free either here on Substack (where all of year 2 is not only published but audio recorded) and / or on Facebook.
