I eventually want to plan on moving elsewhere (perhaps somewhere in the EU or even Canada) because of how much damage the orange pustule has done to the US. As a soon-to-be dual Canadian citizen... I can't even sort of blame you. I'm working on finishing my citizenship paperwork (my parents are citizens but did not apply for derivative citizenship for me as a kid) and I am gonna sponsor my wife for PR once my paperwork is sorted and we plan to leave and not come back because shit here is bananas and I'm over it. I did not vote for that orange shitstain, I have been fighting against this shit for 10 years (I've done voter drives and volunteered to transport people to voting locations and gone door to door to remind people to vote and canvassed for candidates) and I'm fucking tired. I am tired of watching my government fuck not only us but everyone else, and attempt to bankrupt the middle and lower classes in the process. We have zero prospects here. I'll finish my bachelor's program next year and after that we're gone.
Mexican here. People who appreciate our culture, make an effort to learn the language, and are aware of the social and political intricacies of my country will always be welcome. However, definitely take care. It's not common for North American and European foreigners to get caught in the shit show that is our narco situation, but it's also not impossible.

Maybe they were from Alberta, who can say. However I hope it’s known that California hates the Orange Goblin.

I’ve lived in Mexico for close to seven years now. Can you guess why I left the US permanently? I only return when I need to visit a dispensary, and they’re all pretty conveniently close to the border so I don’t have to stay any longer than necessary. I haven’t seen or heard of any cartel violence in my city, and have always kept my head down so as not to be the “Ugly American” stereotype. And it works! Just don’t come here demanding they create an alternate America, refuse to even try to learn the language even a little bit, tip often and tip well. I’ve made so many more Mexican friends here than Americans and two of them I call my sherpas. They help me get around confusing and scary large cities, don’t allow cab drivers to rip me off, are ALWAYS there for me when I need help. The gringos…not so much. So anyone criticizing Mexico or Mexicans need to STFU and take a seat.

The real Mexico, as we know, is everywhere in this amazing country, but I must add that there is a bit of a difference when you head inland from the resorts on la playa. It's a unique world, filled with history, beauty and a slightly different mindset of the people. I've been here for a month and will fly out of Guadalajara the day after tomorrow. I can confirm that things in Jalisco are settling down. Businesses are opening and people are walking around, graciously. The buses, however, are still not running. Hopefully, manana. I'm from the U.S. and I spend months in Mexico. I'm here just about every year. I walk miles a day in the largest cities, from Guadalajara to Mexico City, Oaxaca city to Morelia, Puebla, and beyond and have never had a problem. It's safer in Mexico than anywhere in Estados Unidos. And, as an ameriKKKan, from north of the 'wall', I'm happy that no sane tourist, or traveler would even think of going to the U.S. right now (as the most Evil Empire in history continues to implode). Only an idiot would!
